Our three-year undergraduate degree course teaches the essentials of games concept development, rendering values from life, anatomical studies, and game ready 3D modelling practices during the first two years. The final 3rd year comprises of industry written briefs from gaming companies across the UK, accompanied by industry visits to support the development of your portfolio with feedback tailored to your specialism. Throughout the course, we deliver modules in Game Production, Digital Art Practice, and Traditional Art Practice.

You are required to submit a portfolio showcasing creative artwork, which may include fine art, digital, or 3D work, in addition to the necessary UCAS points. Our course spans three years, with the possibility of extending to four years through an optional placement year. This placement can be undertaken during the second year by interning at a relevant studio with roles such as games concept development, 3D modelling, visualisation, or similar fields as a intern.

Our course is conducted entirely on-site to ensure students have direct access to our state-of-the-art studio rooms full of industry-standard PC machines, full-size Cintiq screens, self study labs, and all necessary software needed to develop game ready skills.
Demos conducted during lessons can be accessed via our digital platform, LearningZone, which offers additional resources, sheets, and video replays on DMU Replay for further reference. We strive to provide daily feedback and block based formative sessions to check-in on student progress and provide points to improve on your projects.

Our course is ran at De Montfort University, located in Leicester, United Kingdom. Our campus is situated close to the centre of the city, offering excellent transportation links and parking facilities for students and industry alike.

There are multiple parking spots including disabled bays available across various parking sites, plus new electric vehicle charging points. Students will need valid parking permits, which can be obtained from the DMU Store for the duration of the specified term.
We recommend that, where possible, students who are studying live in Leicester for the best access to our learning facilities.
